I'm frustrated by the inconsistent notifications from my phone because of the many task managers I have running. Keeping it running for over five hours is tough, and I need a solution in the taskbar tray with some sound—something like Avast's alert messages. Having multiple accounts would be helpful, but my primary account should stay sufficient. It's a Yahoo Mail account (sorry, I picked it back then; back then Yahoo Messenger was great).

I understand you're familiar with Outlook or possibly Thunderbird.

Thunderbird remains an option for email users. You're switching to the native solution instead of Outlook, which is fine.

uses windows live mail for the machine because it handles 99% of what i need for outlook and its free phone – just set up gmail with extra email addresses added.

I use the Yahoo Mail app. It isn't the best, but it works fine.
