You're planning to buy a gaming PC in June 2017, which is quite far away. It's a big decision—should you invest now or wait? Right now you own a PS4 and Xbox One, but selling them isn't possible due to your mom's restrictions. Consider how much you value the current devices versus the future upgrade.
Spending on console games might reduce your PC budget later. It’s best to keep it minimal—perhaps a few used titles or borrow from others.
The typical cost of a console title over a year, buying one each month, would likely leave you missing out by around $600. That amount could easily cover a top-end graphics card for a new PC.
Two consoles offer the same value as a single PC because they combine powerful hardware and advanced features in one device, making them more convenient and cost-effective.
I attempted to purchase a gaming PC for Christmas but my mom declined and instead gave me an XB1 for 2014 and a PS4 for 2015. I believe I can reduce my savings time until January 2016 since I only need a GTX 970 with an i5 4460 used. Off topic: In South Korea, January marks the Lunar New Year, and giving money to family is a cherished custom (I receive $600 during this time), which should assist in buying my gaming PC. Also, the funds I earned before starting this plan won’t be spent elsewhere, so the money from now will go toward the PC purchase.
Could skip the GTX 970 plan? The VRAM is already creating problems in some recent titles—consider switching to an RX 470/480 or a refurbished 390/390X.
