Quality varies. My RX580 runs smoothly at 60fps in 1080p. To hit 144fps I’d have to double the GPU strength. Improving anything else beyond the GPU would only add about 10-20%.

That's already pretty balanced. Depending on your resolution, you're going to be bottlenecked if you get a significantly faster card. I'd just hold off, and upgrade next year with DDR5/AM5.
