I've set up a basic dual-boot with an SSD, it runs smoothly for documents and streaming. The older single-core Intel CPUs and budget mobile chips tend to lag. Switching to Linux distributions like Ubuntu works well, or you could try Windows 7.

It seems like you're comparing your i7 980 to a Ryzen Athlon and wondering about its performance at around 4.6GHz. You're also curious whether an SSD would help or not. You mentioned having a similar setup and are considering investing in it. It sounds like you're serious about getting the best performance possible.

I recommend an SSD mainly because it can be quickly moved to a more capable computer. It offers a fast performance upgrade for older systems and works well with modern hardware. Running a full desktop setup wouldn’t seem worthwhile.

I’ll confirm it’s resolved. Allocate funds to a contemporary solution. It will operate on Windows 10 and work seamlessly with any software and hardware.

Avoid spending any funds—it’s outdated and not practical for basic needs. Some suggest selling it, and if possible, redirecting the proceeds toward newer, more valuable opportunities.

This solution isn't applicable. It's designed specifically for 478 Pentium 4 systems, not for the core 2 mobile chips. Generally, there aren't any standard desktop boards built for this chip since it was intended for laptops only.

It will share the same layout as 754 mobile on desktop boards. Furthermore, if the board includes core2, nearly all core2 mobile chips should display the update as noted.
