You play on 1080p, 1440p, or 4K resolutions.
4K works well for me most of the time. If it's very demanding and aliasing isn't too bad, 1440p is ideal.

2560x1440 resolution with Gsync at 144Hz – perfect setup!
720p at 60 Hz on the older 8-year-old laptop, 1080p at 75 Hz on the sandy-bridge toaster equipped with an i3 and iGPU.
On a 4K screen, many of my games work smoothly without issues.

Mostly 3x1440p these days, and 4k for games that can't make the most of the extra panels.
