I received a i9 7980xe and Rampage VI extreme for free from a friend. He hadn’t used them recently and kept the motherboard and CPU in separate anti-static bags. He mentioned the board itself hasn’t been touched, but the CPU was used. After swapping out my old components with the new ones, plugging the cable in worked—motherboard lights lit, GPU didn’t, fans didn’t spin, and there were no beeps. Anyone have any suggestions? The parts I didn’t replace are still functioning perfectly, just not as before. Thanks a lot!
The computer won’t start at all, the fans aren’t working, and the new components aren’t powering up, though the rest of your setup functions normally. No warning lights are illuminating, which adds some concern. It might be wise to consult a technician.
Begin by restoring your original configuration. Verify the PSU is functional; if not, replace it. Then swap the mainboard and CPU, using just one RAM stick. Place it correctly in its slot. Avoid adding extra components, then check for booting. If successful, increase RAM beyond the GPU. If instability occurs, revert the previous change and test with another part.
I recently tried it, but it didn’t work. The fans aren’t spinning at all.
Check the CPU in your older setup for compatibility. If it starts up, the memory board could be damaged due to shocks, vibrations, or nearby objects.
It seems like you found something second-hand for free from someone you know. The item is labeled "Rampage Vi Extreme."
