Hello, your setup includes an ASUS ROG Strix Gaming E B650e motherboard, a Kraken 360 Z73 RGB AIO, and Fractal Meshify 2 with three case fans. You're considering upgrading to four case fans and wondering if a fan controller is necessary.

You can choose a fan hub or a simple 3x1 splitter for your case fans if you don't want to connect them in a chain.

What you receive largely depends on your desired level of control. The NZXT hub with CAM software performs exceptionally well. I own it and rely on it heavily. It simplifies custom fan curve settings and offers a highly reliable setup. Initially, it was criticized for heavy CPU usage, but that issue has been resolved and it now consumes minimal resources. I also use the Corsair hub, which behaves similarly. It’s important to stay within an ecosystem for optimal performance. The NZXT hub works best when paired with the Kraken cooler. It also manages RGB lighting. Alternatively, you can opt for a basic hub that functions as a simple splitter. Some models include MOLEX power for extra fans, but this sacrifices individual fan management. Generally, you configure one fan in the BIOS, and the remaining fans on the hub follow its settings. With seven fans, the NZXT smart hub seems to be the optimal choice.
