All looks promising so far... 1: My 5800x is safely in a box at Best Buy—thanks for the help! Most of the minor problems I was noticing have disappeared, possibly because I should have stuck with my original setup and compared it to the new one. I’m already transferring it to my daughter’s 9900k machine. 2: The 5950x scores impressively—10,924 in R20, 656/12524 in CPU-Z benchmarks, and 4774 in R15. These results align with expectations. Temperatures are similar to the 5800x, except for the switch from Kryonaut Extreme to ProlimaTech PK-3 Nano; cooling performance remains nearly identical. The max temperature reaches around 72°C unless I run AVX-intensive tasks, then it climbs to about 80°C (last run near 78°C). Idle temps are only slightly higher, ranging 30–32°C depending on the time of day. 3: The new RAM sticks (two G.Skill 4000 CL18 16GB units) boot at 4000MT/s with XMP enabled and 2000MHz set. Everything worked until the first Cinebench test triggered a WHEA alarm, showing several benchmarks. The system is otherwise stable, though I’m considering testing it at 3800MT/s and 1900MHz for now. Perhaps I’ll look up tips to optimize performance at those speeds. The benchmarks ran even better at 2000MB cache—hopefully I can push that. I might also bring back the daughter’s 3200 CL16 4x8GB LPX kit for a test if needed. Overall, I’m much happier with this CPU; the $350 upgrade was definitely worth it. The single-thread speed is even better than I anticipated, which surprised me since I first got the 8086K (which I later optimized). Maybe I’ll consider an OC in the future, but for now it’s solid. Great! I don't own your CPU, but I had to boost the VSOC voltage to around 1.15V to secure the 2k level and keep the WHEA in check. You might need to tweak CLDO VDDP, VDDG CCD, and VDDG IOD a bit. Beyond that, I'm not up for it since I haven't worked with any of those.
Second attempt (28905)...chasing the 2990WX! Updated: 29052! Second edit: 29123! Probably just let it rest here lol...done with the -15 Curve optimizer and PBO at defaults, feels pretty solid to me.
This result is really interesting... I managed around 28k R23 without exceeding 70°C under load, which makes it worth the 1k points for trying it out. I plan to test it over a few days to get a better feel. My CPU-z score was 670/12756, and my single core stays consistent, so I might not be missing much. On dual cores, speeds reached 5.05Ghz and two others hit 5.025Ghz, which is pretty impressive. I achieved 26.5K with temperatures staying at 65°C max, but that felt like a lot of strain, so I increased it slightly. What do you think?
I randomly reinstalled my 3200 Vengeance RGB (4 x 8GB) to test it on the 5950x. It’s running smoother and with better timing than my newer 4000 model (just completed my first memtest). Is this a solid performance? I managed to boost the overclock by 20% even with fewer sticks compared to the 4 stick setup? That’s odd... probably time to return the new memory.
Yes, B-Die performs well and scales with voltage. Most top kits can handle 16-16-16-36 timing sets up to and beyond 4000mt/s, just needing a bit more 1.45v on stock units. Keep things cool under load and aim for 40-45°C. Two 8GB drives offer the best results, though. For higher speeds, consider removing the 2:1 ratio and pushing it further. XMP support allows the SOC to auto-overvolt to around 1.08v, making 1.15-1.20v safe for ambient conditions if you need 3800-4000mt/s. If you aim for over 4000mt/s, increase the voltage accordingly. The recommended options are 17-19-19-39 or 19-19-19-39, which should comfortably reach 4200+ without excessive voltage spikes. I didn’t mention your new setup until I reviewed the results.
