You just completed your initial CPU and GPU overclocking attempt. How did it go?
Here are the details of my setup:
I use an EVGA GTX 980ti SC+ with an i5 4690k processor.
My RAM is 8GB, and I have an MSI Z97 PC Mate LGA 1150 motherboard.
The power supply is an EVGA SuperNOVA G2 850 W PSU, paired with a Cooler Hyper EVO 212 cooler.
Regarding the CPU adjustments, I changed the clock speed to 4.2ghz and set the voltage manually. No other changes were made except those mentioned above.
After these steps, I ran 3Dmark Firestrike and recorded the following temperatures throughout the process:
CPU: 45c-58c
GPU: 60c-74c
I plan to test Prime95 for at least six hours later tonight to see how it performs. For now, I’m checking if my overclocking was done correctly. I’ve read many guides about this, so I want to confirm whether I did well.
Thank you.
I'm happy with my present overclock configuration. Should I keep it as is? Also, after running Prim95 for eight hours without any issues, does that confirm everything was successful? I can resume normal use now. The decision depends on whether you wish to enhance performance further. It's perfectly okay to stick with your current settings. However, if you aim for higher performance, you're free to adjust it. If the test ran smoothly and didn't cause any problems, your overclock is stable. I don't suggest using Prime95 for stress testing as it exerted excessive strain on the hardware. Better options include AIDA64 (paid), ASUS RealBench (free), or Intel BurnTest (free) to assess CPU and Furmark performance.
Adjust the CPU voltage to 1.3, staying within the safe range, and increase the multiplier a bit more. Also boost the 980ti's core and memory speeds. Your friend's EVGA SSC 980ti should handle around 145 on the core and 589 on memory with an additional 78 mV of voltage.

Understood. I'll try different stress test apps and check out the results.
