Doing the cleaning is tough since I don’t have a private space and I’m having to place my computer desk near the kitchen or food shelf. I’ve already shared my concerns, but they didn’t seem to care.

I use cotton pads soaked in rubbing alcohol for cleaning electronics. The conductivity depends on the alcohol concentration. As long as everything is fully dry before powering it back up, it should work safely. Cleaning just the outer casings is completely safe.

No, you don't need to buy exactly 90% IPA. A 75% concentration is also acceptable.

You can continue with everything except the cleaning stage. Place the PC inside a box, dust it thoroughly, and cover cables; this will block ants from reaching it. For a quicker fix, use a mixture of baby powder and IPA 70% or stronger, but apply it right away since it dries fast.

You can still place it on your desk, but make sure it's stable and secure.

Avoid hitting it carefully so the seal stays intact. Think about setting up a barrier where ants can easily cross but not through. You're aiming to form a small area where they'll fall when encountering the obstacle caused by gravity.
