You have an AWS EC2 account without a free instance inquiry.
Good evening, I really hope this is the right subforum for a question like this. If not, please tell me. I have question concerning AWS cloud computing. I know there are a lot of texts on the net but they all start from this 12 months free tier option and they won't cover my question specifically. Maybe because that's just automatically happening, maybe it's because I understood something wrong. I'm just really confused right now and no matter what I click on AWS I can't really get any good answer. So I created my first AWS account today. At first you get to choose between different options such as "Basic Plan", "Developer", "Business", etc. I chose the free basic plan, so now I am bombarded with free tier options. My problem is, I need to run a calculation from a pre-compiled API. I will probably only take a few minutes to hours and I plan to only pay for that. I know that I will require quite some RAM so I chose one instance from the list and created it. Naturally, it told me that was not part of the free tier but I was still able to create it. Now my question, since I can't see how much I have to pay in general, how do I pay for it? There are different plans as they call it, per month, per hour or even per second. The instance I used, is under the list of 'On Demand' prices that are estimated with $/h prices. Now maybe this question is obsolte here but since I don't know how the options change once you have say a "business" plan activated I just don't really know it. But, what payment plan is the usual one for a "Basic Plan" user that uses EC2 and an Instance from the "On Demand" list? Will they charge me for the hours used only or based on monthly costs, if I only run it for a certain amount of time? I'm sorry if that is a total beginners question but I'm so confused at the moment since I just don't understand what I'm basically paying for right now and their cost estimation tool also shows multiple billing options and plans. Best Regards and thank you for any help in advance.
