Hi everyone! I'm having trouble fixing something. My computer has a fast processor (Xeon X5450) and an Asus motherboard. When I try to speed up my CPU (going around 3.5 GHz), my system makes three long beeps when it starts. It doesn't break games or stress tests, but sometimes the screen stays dark until I click "reset" in the BIOS menu. I tested this with two different graphics cards and changed my RAM sticks too. I think none of those were right, so I hope someone can help me out!

So, a socket 771 cpu in a 775 mobo with mod for it. Sure, it's been one of the best chipsets of its time, capable of many tweaks. Well, there has never been a real official support by intel for 771-to775 and as long as I know, people use bios microcodes along with the mechanical 4-cuts-thing mod to customize the overall system in the proper way. And a part of the people going this way still 've been complaining sometimes about unusual issues while using the 771+775-combos. Maybe you need to see about if there is a more proper bios microcode, I don't know what exactly you used to mod the system. Maybe you need the latest possible bios version, and after it to inject the proper bios microcode by cpu-z/manually, or whatever it...

So, a socket 771 CPU in a 775 motherboard with a mod for it. Sure, it's been one of the best chipsets back then, and it could handle many cool settings. But there was never real official support from Intel for going from 771 to 775. As far as I know, people usually used BIOS microcodes along with that mechanical 4-cut-mod to customize things properly. And some folks using this combo still complained about weird problems sometimes. Maybe you should check if there is a better BIOS microcode? I don't actually know exactly what you did before. Maybe you need the newest BIOS version and then inject the proper microcode manually, like with CPU-Z or some other tool. At least that's my guess. In fact, I had something similar back in last month, but it was easier. What I did was set the memory latency to higher values, things worked fine at 6-6-6-18 for sure. I also put the sticks one by one and restarted a few times while changing the RAM order. One stick just wanted to be closer to the CPU somehow. But I am using a 775-CPU, RAM, and they are not overclocked, just stock. Some links: View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bxcSJjrzsA https://www.delidded.com/lga-771-xeon-microcode/
