Hey there, I'm really struggling this week. My laptop's motherboard got damaged and it's not working properly. While I wait for the repair, my friend lent me his old laptop to help with schoolwork. The only issue is it's completely broken and doesn't function at all. It took hours to turn on, and now it's not responding. I've attached a picture of the problem. Also, the fan is running nonstop at a really loud volume. Anyone have any advice or help? This laptop runs Linux Mint Edit, and I'm trying to send this message from a slow phone, which might take forever. Thanks in advance!

Does he truly value what you do with the laptop? Probably not. You should organize it, set up Windows, and use it accordingly. If he cares about how you handle it, clone it to an external drive, format it, reinstall Windows, and then restore Linux when needed. It would likely be more reliable this way.

No one is available; I rely heavily on this laptop for everything over the coming weeks.

I'm struggling to reach the desktop. It seems to be mine, he doesn't seem to care about Firearm2112.
