It relies on whether you require a fresh PC immediately or around two years from now.

DDR5 isn't coming anytime soon. If I were building a PC now, I'd hold off for a bit longer on Ryzen Zen 3 and Big Navi, but not for DDR5.

No signs of DDR5 processors or motherboards arriving soon have been observed.

some threads about DDR5 in the near future: "should I build a PC with DDR5 now or wait for DDR6?" you need to get something built eventually, but every day you delay, components become more advanced. if you need a PC right away, purchase it now, and if you can afford to wait, do so. i’m aiming for the “always upgrade” approach—buying the best value I can find so I can upgrade every couple of generations at minimal cost. each new DDRX revision tends to be costly at launch; prices for DDR5 and beyond might be reasonable in a few months to a year. still, it’s still a long way off though lol

It's strongly confirmed that Zen 4 Ryzen processors will include DDR5 support. Also, AM4+/AM5 availability may depend on how they're labeled.

The information remains the same, the model name doesn't affect availability.

Neither myself, though it could conceivably happen. The standing rule is keep your system until it no longer can do what you need it to do. The issue is there will always be something better just around the corner. If you wait till ddr5 there is the temptation to wait for better ddr5, etc.. I do think there is going to be a sea change when ray tracing gets sufficiently advanced that shaders no longer need to be used. I think it may change video games to a similar degree that premixed tube paint changed painting. Determining when that will be though is difficult. My current suspicion is 5 years but may happen sooner. My current plan is to upgrade no sooner than the current crop of new consoles is released. I think it may be possible to build a PC that can do everything they do out of the gate in which case it will play games as long as those consoles are current.

If your current computer is no longer performing as well as you need it to, you should wait for Zen 3 and new AMD cards, and then upgrade. If your computer works fine now and you don't really have a pressing need to upgrade, you may as well wait a couple years for DDR5.
