If FRAPS isn't an option, use the video recorder in MSI Afterburner—it works well.

Use OBS for live streaming, FRAPS for casual play. The high quality and low resource usage more than compensate for my usual large file sizes (OBS just... your bitrate is almost the same so it looks great).

We've been checking out Gaming Evolved GVR recently, and it works well. Just keep in mind this isn't relevant for users with nVidia systems.

It seems OBS requires more system resources than expected.

It depends on the type of gameplay videos you plan to share. With an AMD graphics card, Bandicam or w AMDAPP x264 works well with minimal performance impact, though editing can be tricky due to container formats. For lower overhead and higher quality, dxTory or Bandicam paired with Lagarith or UT Video Codec is better, but requires fast storage and a lot of space. Fraps has limitations since it doesn’t support alternative codecs. OBS and Xsplit are strong options as they simplify scene setup and direct uploads, using x264 for compact file sizes.
