I'm planning to upgrade my SSD and wondered if I can move Windows from my previous hard drive.

Protect your data by copying all files to a different storage device. Reduce the hard drive’s capacity to fit the SSD dimensions (only if the SSD is smaller). Use software such as EaseUS to create a clone of the drive.

It makes the most sense to start fresh if you don’t want to retain anything from the previous version.

Reinstall. It's definitely worth it.

Consider using Macrium Reflect to clone everything. Once the system starts up, delete any files or settings you no longer need. This approach works well if your goal is to restore a Windows environment without personal files. A fresh installation afterward should be quicker and cleaner.
