The question really captures what you’re asking. I recently got a free Acer C720 Chromebook that’s now running the newest OS available: Chrome OS 76.0.3809.136. I’m curious if it’s feasible to install the Play Store on this device. It wouldn’t be a huge issue, but this machine is very portable and I’ve grown quite attached to it during its brief use.

I own the same Chromebook. It meets 95% of my daily requirements. I use media (online or offline from a 1TB HDD), MS documents, emails, GMeet... I can even set up my VPN via an extension. The most economical option. If it fails, I’ll likely purchase another one, as this one appears to last a long time.

I would set up a lightweight Linux distribution.

I thought about it before, and I’m sure I’ll give it a shot later. For now, I’ll stick with ChromeOS and skip Google Play. It feels good to enjoy the experience without those apps right away.

You might prefer a Chromebook because it offers portability and ease of use. It’s great for everyday tasks, learning, and working on the go without the bulk of a traditional laptop.
