You're experiencing an issue with your activation key not being recognized by your new machine. Here are some possible alternatives you can try:
- Contact Belarc support for assistance in retrieving your old key.
- Check if your device supports re-activation through a different method (e.g., email verification).
- Ensure your account is up to date and has the necessary permissions enabled.

I'm interpreting your Windows key as your login credentials. If it's linked to the same account, navigate to activation settings and note any recent hardware changes.

Also note the type of key received. An OEM key isn't transferable to another device.

It was a crucial program I relied on during university; it's an authentic license. When Windows 7 was installed, the free upgrade to 10 was available.

I never connected my account. I don’t need any random synced account details.

Check the support page for Windows 10 activation tips. You can also look at the email you received with the purchase confirmation—it should mention the original receipt. Your activation page might show the key; if not, it’s not against rules but I’ve personally bought one on eBay for £1.50.

It seems the free Windows 10 upgrade isn't transferable. With the free upgrade, you won't receive a new Windows key. Still, Windows 7 keys might function when you activate Windows 10. Consider reaching out to Microsoft support if you need further assistance. Otherwise, you'll have to obtain a new license.
