I purchased my FX-8350 some time back, and so far it has been an incredible processor.
However, I've recently started playing more demanding games such as GTA 5.
I bought a MSI R9 380 4gb graphics card, thinking I could easily reach around 60 FPS.
But unfortunately, my performance only reached between 45 and 55 FPS (outdoors).
Someone told me it was due to a "CPU bottleneck" and recommended overclocking to fix it. I did some research on the topic, but I'm not very experienced in this community xD.
My main question is: What speed can I realistically achieve with my FX-8350?
Details:
Motherboard: ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0
GPU: MSI R9 380 4gb
CPU: AMD FX-8350
CPU cooler: Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO
PSU: XFX PRO 650 watt XXX Edition
RAM: Kingston HyperX fb-dimm 2x4GB DDR3
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500410AS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5
If any component of my PC isn't designed for overclocking, please let me know which one and what suggestions you have.

The cooler is excellent, but the maximum overclock depends on the quality of the chip received, which differs. I mentioned around 4.4/4.5Ghz as a solid starting point for that particular chip. Some users can reach up to 4.7Ghz with a steady overclock, but achieving stability beyond that usually requires a very high-quality component.

4.4 to 4.5 offers a solid stable overclock for the FX-8350. You can go further, but stronger CPU cooling would likely be needed. A YouTube tutorial on this process is available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MckeAmnDeTk

You can likely overclock your CPU up to around 4.5 GHz with your current setup.

The cooler is excellent, but the maximum overclock also depends on the quality of the chip, which differs. As I mentioned earlier, achieving 4.4/4.5Ghz is a solid starting point for that particular chip. Some users can reach up to 4.7Ghz with a stable overclock, but beyond that you'd need a particularly good chip to maintain stability.

h55 won't provide sufficient cooling; consider a h100 minimum or a cooler such as a cryorig r1 ultimate. I currently have an NH-D14, NH-D15, and NH-D15s. The ASRock 970 series may overheat or fail easily, so I recommend a 990 series or an FX990 ASUS for this chip.
