If you’re not confident in them… opt for WireGuard. Other methods might gather only IP addresses and usage stats, but they wouldn’t see your actual data because they rely on WireGuard as the transport. If you’re still unsure, remove them completely and use WireGuard instead.

I own a VPS running both OpenVPN and WireGuard. I plan to replace it soon with a more affordable DNS solution that includes Unbound, Pihole, and Zerotier. I might also add encryption or tunneling for DNS queries. Tailscale and ZeoTier are effective against strong firewalls. With standard VPN setups, this isn't always guaranteed. For me, all traffic through the Zerotier network will be secured—via HTTPS, SSH tunnels, or encrypted DNS. The data between different IPs can still be monitored, but the actual content remains private.
