Someone else might have said that differently. The idea is that setting can improve performance, which is an advantage for PCs.

You can play Witcher 3 at 1080p medium — setting it to 30fps helps avoid stuttering. I used this approach with my older GPU (HD 7950) and it performed well. For other RPGs, vanilla Skyrim is a solid choice if you haven’t tried it yet. ME: Andromeda also runs at medium settings; it seems compatible with your hardware. Prey appears to be well-optimized, so you might reach 1080p/60 with your specs.

Using my 970 and the FX 8350 without any overclocking, I managed to maintain a consistent 60 FPS in Witcher 3, though there were some issues. Ultra was less smooth, and my frames would drop if I had hairworks turned on—what you can expect.
