I enjoy my role for several reasons, yet the company backing isn’t a priority. The decision to halt this project really motivated me to dig deeper and created my own answer: I can’t use a KVM, otherwise I’d have to spend a lot on premium options to enable my VRR 4k 120 display for gaming on my PC. I discovered a helpful article that led me to a batch file automating three shortcuts to switch between my PC and laptop displays. Unfortunately, my LG Ultra Gear isn’t compatible, but I’m fine since I already have two displays for work. It was much cheaper than buying a high-end solution. Now I just need a good USB switch to improve peripheral handling—I’m really satisfied with the software’s performance. I intend to donate it after my next paycheck. The only issue is that I’d already planned to replace one of my displays, which I’ve owned since college—now every time I upgrade, I must verify compatibility or risk losing access to it for work.

You just mentioned it, the laptop is meant to connect to secure networks for sensitive data. Running the VPN on your personal computer would violate that arrangement. This isn't only about security—it's about not being forced to use your own device for professional purposes. If the provided laptop hinders your work, that's their responsibility, not yours. It also allows them to shift blame if any confidential information is exposed, claiming you used your own machine.

I don’t always need to connect to data hidden by the VPN, it varies by project. When I do, I use the laptop; when not, I rely on my computer. This setup suits me best. I’ve already discovered a workaround that respects the VPN rules, so you don’t have to worry—I’ve figured it out.
