The MAC address is part of your computer's physical components—it's a tangible aspect of your device, whether it's a network port connected to PCI or a Wi-Fi adapter. Unless you plan to replace the hardware, altering it isn't feasible. Note: Why would you need to change it?

The only situation to modify a MAC address is through a virtualized environment or MAC spoofing—useful mainly for hiding identity or with certain internet service providers that require a locked router connection. MAC addresses are permanently set during manufacturing.

It is against the law to alter certain items in some regions, so proceed with caution.

MAC spoofing exists. What kind of questionable activities are you involved in?

In an era where VPNs are almost required, I don’t see them as as suspicious now as I used to—especially since a MAC address links your online activity to a particular hardware device on your computer.

It seems like you're trying to decide between three options: an adult website, pirate software, hacking tools, or something anonymous. Which one fits your situation best?

Two students at an Australian school altered the MAC addresses of all the school computers to engage in questionable activities. Those involved or aware of the situation remained silent when questioned by the AFP. Although they avoided arrest, the police were able to identify the location of the activity.

Your MAC address remains fixed because it's a unique identifier for your device. You might attempt MAC spoofing, though its success varies.
