You don't need a 3090 to achieve smooth 144hz at 1440p. Smart settings can enhance your gaming experience with minimal stutter. Just turn on gsync/freesync and set the medium to high levels for best performance.

Usually not, unless you drastically reduce everything. Source: My i9 10850 + GTX 1080 can't reach 100fps in Cyberpunk at 1440 with standard settings.

What a question! The experience might surprise you. With your current configuration, you should be able to hit 1080p at 144Hz.

I own an i5 10400f with 16gb RAM, yet I’m using a 2060. I mainly play at 1440p and my monitor supports 144hz. I’d say around 80% of games work well, achieving a solid 75-80fps when everything is set to high. Yes, there are the remaining 20%, mostly the latest titles that strain any system—even then it’s just about tweaking some options. Now, the point is how much slower the 1660ti is compared to a 2060. For titles like Control, Marvel’s Avengers, Crysis, etc., you won’t get smooth high settings at decent frames. It’s simply not feasible. But if you’re ready to cut back and tolerate under 60fps, you should be able to enjoy some newer games. Even entries from the seventh console generation should run without issues. The safest choice is to buy games on Steam and take advantage of the 2-hour refund policy. At least you can test whether the game you want will run at any reasonable settings or frame rate.

It's possible, but the frames per second won't be great and your processor will struggle.
