It will be next week when my friend offers me $1000 or more for building a rig for him. I’m considering using Windows 8.1 and wondering if I need to connect to a Microsoft account or another login to configure it. If required, I’m worried about being able to install the GPU myself before handing it over, as doing it myself could lead to confusion or errors.

Avoid needing a Microsoft account. Click to create a new account, and there’s an option to set up a local account instead of linking to Microsoft.
