The idea isn't to purchase a switch, right? It feels frustrating when we have to download huge games multiple times or move hard drives around. Shouldn't we just use the existing connection we already share? And what about routers—can they handle the same setup too?

Both devices are linked to the same modem, indicating it includes a built-in router. It seems like a combined solution from your internet service provider.

You're not sure if you need to change any settings. You already have a static IP assigned to your PC.

If both systems use Windows, confirm they share the same workgroup identifier. Create common directories on each machine and utilize the network browser to view each other’s documents. Simple Windows networking in action.

It's worth noting that I've allowed folders to be shared with other devices, but entering the network settings through folders isn't working.

What type of modem is used? Typically, this model includes a built-in router and switch. Are the computers able to communicate with one another? Which error message appears? Would you like to see screenshots?

Windows 10 didn't eliminate workgroups entirely. You can still use network sharing, and if set up correctly, shared folders will show up as intended.

I managed to get it running, but there seems to be a problem with visibility between your PC and your brother’s. It might be related to network settings or permissions.

Can I send a notification? It doesn't need to appear in the browse results since you can add it directly by IP address.
