I own a 5900X and have been presented with 64GB of ECC RAM at 3200mhz. There’s no visible ECC support listed on ASUS’s site, which raises concerns. The main point is whether it could function, considering Ryzen does support ECC memory. Someone might have tried consumer motherboards with ECC before—any insights?

It varies based on the ECC type. For registered or buffered variants, it won't function. For unbuffered or unregistered ones, it might be possible but isn't guaranteed—it seems more about AMD not fully enabling ECC support rather than actively blocking it. It could operate without ECC capabilities as well.

A lot of checks and tests go into ECC features, which isn’t feasible for everyday devices. It’s nice they didn’t follow Intel’s approach of completely turning it off on consumer gear. When it comes to RDIMM and UDIMM, the differences are both physical and electrical, meaning more than just software would be needed—so it makes sense they don’t support both.
