Relies on how your ISP sets up the connection. In the US with FiOS, fiber goes straight to a closet and connects to their network provider. This changes it to copper, which I use with CAT5 to my router without any problems. For your setup, we should understand what devices are used at the demarc point for your specific ISP.

For a fiber connection from your ISP, it's usually best to leave it alone unless you have specific needs. If you receive coaxial service, installing a DOSIS 3.1 modem can be straightforward compared to dealing with coax or fiber.

I thought a modem with cable was necessary. Here, fiber connects directly to an ONT, which then links to the ISP router. An ONT essentially switches from fiber to copper (CAT5/6), allowing you to connect straight to your router without additional equipment.

Typically, FiOS operates in the US by supplying a router that connects to their TV service via MoCA for all STBs. However, if you're not concerned about this setup, you can generally use any router you prefer. In certain situations, you might need to contact them to obtain an IP address, after which you can install your own router. I've experienced this process with FiOS in the past.

Still, since I don’t have all the specifics, I can’t assure anything. Based on what you’ve mentioned, here’s what I’ve noticed from similar setups. Good luck!
