Device 1 and Device 2 are linked to a router configured with a VPN from mullvad. The goal is to maintain constant VPN connectivity 24/7 and assign each device a unique IP address that appears on separate networks without any traces.

Your choices will largely hinge on the router model you have. Typically, a home router can handle just one VPN simultaneously—not due to a hard restriction, but because of the available settings for managing data flow on each device.

I agree, I began using VPNs after switching to pfSense because it simplifies things. I’d prefer not to manage configurations on DD-WRT or OpenWRT. Also, connecting two separate devices to different VPNs doesn’t really add value in my setup. My main reason for using VPNs is having three internet connections and running a VPN on each, then balancing traffic among them. This helps me route some traffic through a US-based VPN to bypass geo-restrictions.
