I just got a Cisco DS-C9124-K9 24-Port Multilayer Fabric Switch. From what I know, it's meant for SAN traffic, but I want to use it as a standard 4GB switch for my servers and PCs. I have some experience with Cisco switches, but I’m not familiar with this model. I’d like guidance on setting it up and which PCIe fiber cards are needed. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I’ll share the product data sheet here: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/c...75393.html

You won't be able to use it for regular switching. You'd need to configure LUN targets and other SAN setup details.

You're concerned about the cost and justification of using the switch for SAN traffic alone. Let me know if you'd like help clarifying your situation.

Ethernet over Fibre Channel was available on the Nexus 8000 line, though its use has largely faded now.
