I often get mixed up about compatible sizes. The RAM you linked is 288-pin DDR4 SDRAM, while your current setup uses an 8GB stick. You're planning to add another 16GB of the same type, but it's a different amount. Make sure the total capacity matches what your system supports.

they'll operate on dual channel with just 16 gigabytes. The 8-gig stick and 8 gig of the 16-gig stick will function separately. The remaining 8 gig will run on single channel, which means exceeding 16 gigabytes could potentially reduce performance.
