I recently bought a high-end CPU from a friend who is fixing his computer. I've been running it in stock form for now, but this is my very first unlocked chip. I'm wondering if I can make the power boost with my motherboard (the H61M-P23). I tried looking online but got different answers. Even though the official site suggests a software called "OC Genie," I haven't used it before because my old CPU was just an i5-2400.

No, or mostly just a little bit. You can tweak the main clock speed up or down by a few percentages, but it's hard to do right. I don't think you should be able to change the base clock with an OC genie on a H61 chip.

Yes, probably just a little bit. You can tweak the main clock rate with a couple of percent, but it's hard to do right. I don't think the "OC" trick works well on an Intel H61 chip.

Oh no, that wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear. But hey, thanks so much for sticking around and helping me out! It means a lot to me.
