I wouldn't bother making clones. Just install the new laptop and move files from the old one using an external monitor. Cloning is mainly useful when switching from HDD to SSD, for instance. Moving from machine A to machine B might cause some problems. Because machine B assumes it's running on machine A with its drivers installed.
Run sysprep on the damaged laptop using a similar external monitor. This prepares Windows for use across different hardware. Once ready, you can remove it, store it in a case, duplicate it, or boot from it to verify functionality.
