I usually see my 970 idle most of the time while streaming with CPU encoding. GPU encoding didn’t seem to work well in the low bandwidth area.

Try the 390 first once you can afford it. It offers a marginally better price compared to the 970 and includes 8 GB of VRAM, which is quite useful. I hope I could have chosen the 390 over my 970.
