In my latest build I’ve got all components except the CPU cooler missing, which should arrive in another 1-2 weeks. While waiting, I wanted to test if my PC boots up quickly and then power it off briefly. My CPU is a Ryzen 7 7700X.

Avoid placing anything below the 95°C threshold on a Zen 4 component—they’re built to withstand up to that temperature. Ensure any cooler is positioned nearby.

No, the protections on the CPU will engage.

It will happen. However, the CPU will face significant strain.

I mean I'm clarifying your question. Could you provide more details?

I think just a short moment should show if it will publish, right? It shouldn’t be at 95°C in the BIOS...

I wouldn't take that chance. Processors warm up rapidly once you power them up. It's hard to picture how fast they'll get hot without a way to dissipate the heat.

A brief spike in temperature can harm performance. For most CPUs, this is typical. Zen4 loads memory quickly during initial boot, but that process adds extra time as the processor warms up.

I'll wait for the cooler to arrive then, thank you!
