I think the best approach is to save the games to the hard drive, then install the library in Steam, which will locate them automatically.

Launch Steam, navigate to Settings, then Downloads. Click on Steam Library Folders at the top, select Add Steam Library, and specify the desired drive. When installing games, it will prompt for installation location and let you choose the library.

Keep the second folder on its own directory rather than a generic drive. This way, files won't be scattered across the main storage location.

Yes, that’s correct. When you click “Add Library Folder,” it opens a window with three options. Choosing one of them lets you add your own library folder, which then appears as an option when installing games from the default location or your new drive.
