PS1 emulation is currently simpler than N64, though it hasn’t fully explored N64. For the GameCube versus PS2 comparison, it’s a basic PowerPC system compared to the custom hardware in the PS2.

Grab a PS3, they’re fairly affordable now. It’s not worth the trouble to attempt full emulation.

There existed an N64 emulator capable of running commercial titles natively around 1999, similar to when Bleem! emerged. Neither the PS1 nor the N64 presented greater challenges for emulation than the other. The difficulty level of an emulator hinges largely on public awareness and understanding. Generally, emulation from the fifth generation onward relies on high-level methods since they function adequately without requiring significantly more powerful hardware. The main issue lies with developers who lack familiarity with the underlying systems or technologies. A notable case is arcade games that depend on Seibu Kaihatsu's COP, which were nearly unplayable due to encryption and oversight. I believe Raiden II, among popular titles, is now playable though it still required over two decades of effort.

It's nice to see we're no longer stuck with "kek no ps3 emulator exists." The RPCS3 team is making great progress; GT5 might be close enough to play. Unless you really need it right away, I'd hold off and avoid buying a PS3.
