You're considering repackaging your CPU after getting the RMA number. The article on AMD's website suggests shipping the CPU separately in a plastic clamshell with bubble wrap for protection during transit. Since you still have the original retail box and thermal paste, it might be safer to keep everything together rather than risking damage by sending just the CPU in its original packaging.

Keep the CPU inside its protective shell with bubble wrap for easier shipping. It’s more cost-effective to ship just the CPU rather than the full retail package, especially when compared to the original box plus cooler. If you must use a box, aim for one that matches the shell size closely to reduce both space and shipping expenses.

They don’t need your retail box. Avoid sending it. Just deliver the CPU inside the clamshell. If you’re anxious, add ESD bubble wrap and an ESD envelope, then place it in a shipping envelope.
