I’ve modified my Acer XC-605 by swapping out the old motherboard and HDD for a new one with a stronger 500W power supply and a 1050ti. The system still runs an Intel I5-4440, has 8GB of DDR3 RAM, and the main concern is the RAM itself. Right now I’m considering a quick fix—replacing one of the two standard 4GB sticks with an 8GB DDR3 module. It’s not critical which brand you choose, as long as it’s DDR3 compatible. I believe the current RAM was made by Crucial, but I’m unsure about the exact model or price. My budget is around £50, though I’m not sure how much I can spend at the moment.

Although it is usually recommended to get an identically matched DIMM, most systems will run just fine as long as the speed, voltage and timings match. (if the timings or speed is different then both DIMMs will run at the speed of the slowest one).
