I have a laptop and I need GTA 4 to work on the move. I tried GTA 5, got 31 FPS with shadows off at 800x600, which is fine. Now I want to play GTA 4 with my specs: AMD A6-6310, 4GB DDR3L memory, 1TB HDD. Can I run it?

Yes, it can feel a bit erratic sometimes, and GTA 4 is generally lighter than GTA 5.

It seems you're suggesting the hardware you used likely matched the specifications of the system you're referring to.

It will perform well initially, but efficiency drops significantly with heavy mod additions.

I don't enjoy changes; I've always preferred the original version.

Your system is working well and GTA 4 should perform better than GTA 5. If GTA 5 runs at around 30 frames per second, playing with 4 will likely be smoother. Generally, desktops offer more stability than laptops since manufacturers focus on creating compact, portable devices. I tend to prefer desktop gaming and would recommend upgrading to an SSD for quicker startup times and faster application execution.

GTA 4 experienced some performance problems, but many players don’t apply the updates. If you skip certain patches, it can run much smoother than GTA V. You can still get better performance by applying those fixes, even if you don’t use all of them. Just be sure to trust me on this!
