I purchased an Acer Chromebook 315 without a security screw. The plan was to run Windows on it. From what I found online, missing the security screw shouldn’t cause any problems—just unplug the battery and it should work fine. I removed the battery and checked, but the verification light didn’t turn off. I’ve read many scripts and tips, but I’m still unsure what to do now since the battery trick didn’t function as expected.

I will say no as it would need more storage than the built in flash (there is no way to expand)

I've had some practice with hacking Chromebooks, so let's check if I can assist with supporting the Acer Chromebook 315 on MrChromeBox.Tech. First, ensure developer mode is enabled. Then remove the hardware write protect feature—this step doesn't work automatically. Press Esc, power on, and refresh. Next, press Esc, power, and refresh again, then hit Ctrl+D to activate developer mode. Finally, turn off the hardware write protect and verify it by running the MrChromeBox script to see if the device boots properly.

the internal flash is sufficient, 32gb works for windows. likely relies on msata, which many chromebooks use since I can't find a reliable alternative.

It's not MSATA, the board should be fine. You might add an SD card and increase the RAM to 4GB.

The sentence means that 4GB of memory should be sufficient for most tasks, especially when using a few Chrome tabs and simple applications.

I completed all the steps and followed Mr Chromebox’s instructions. When you reach the point of choosing between options, the gray ones don’t appear as choices—option 2 is for installing the full UEFI firmware ROM. I’m not sure what to do next.
