You have two HDDs, one with Windows and your personal files, and another that's older. You're considering moving the Windows installation from the first HDD to the second one. It might work, but be careful about data transfer and compatibility.

It might be possible, but understanding the basics helps. The best approach is to replace the faulty drive and then install Windows on the new one, as a backup is always available.

Creating a clone might be a more suitable choice. You can try this complimentary program: https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree

Cloning usually results in a major setback. Start over and retain whatever you can from the previous source.

Because if the original Windows setup works perfectly, it seems strange that it would be considered such a major setback. However, reinstalling Windows might be a viable choice, though it requires restoring everything and often faces resistance from users.

Constantin mentioned earlier and I shared this feedback with another user. They suggested using the Windows USB installer for a "Repair" — sometimes cloning isn't as straightforward or dependable as it should be. They reported around a 40/60 success rate, meaning 40% of attempts succeed and 60% fail. If it works, it saves a lot of trouble, but if not... The cloning idea is promising, though the error rates need improvement, possibly due to Microsoft's efforts to curb piracy.

This major issue shouldn't be so severe. Remember, every producer has faced this challenge. Are you sure companies like Asus or Lenovo employ 500 staff for setting up clean installations on all their devices? Haha. If done correctly, it can succeed.
