Can you fully erase the motherboard, its connections and chipset without just a basic BIOS reset?

What? This doesn't make sense. All the configuration details will be stored in software (drivers after your operating system starts) or in the BIOS (which can be restored to defaults by unplugging the PC and removing the clock battery for a few minutes).

Just need to refresh the CMOS if you wish to "reset your motherboard."

You'd need to revert the BIOS to its original setting, followed by restoring the firmware to its initial versions. A motherboard doesn't have a factory reset option, unlike some routers.

Reversing the CMOS battery briefly and then reinserting it may reset certain settings, similar to what a BIOS reset does through the BIOS interface.

What do you aim to achieve? Or what needs addressing?

My soundchip is experiencing problems. Plugging in the microphone through the motherboard ports causes low volume and picks up desktop audio. Using a USB headset works fine. Audio drivers, Windows, and BIOS are all up to date. The main issue seems to be with my motherboard soundchip or possibly the motherboard itself.
