You can use two different sets of RAM, even though they all seem to be the same speed. The idea is to combine them—like having two 16GB sticks or two 8GB sticks—to reach a higher total capacity. This way you get more than just one configuration; it could give you better performance and flexibility.

Perhaps? I've heard some discussions about not achieving full performance with just four identical sticks. For instance, if your memory operates in quad-channel mode, you might only get the quad-channel advantage for the first 8GB of RAM on each stick. This could mean performance drops when you start using the remaining 16GB of RAM (the last 8GB on each of the two 16GB sticks), though I'm not sure where this information came from or if it's outdated.

It should function well with DDR4. DDR5 can be more demanding, but you shouldn't run into major issues. Note: 48GB behaves similarly to 32GB unless you exceed the 32GB limit. That's unusual.

I've mixed and matched different RAM capacities in my life, with funny amounts like 7GB, 10GB, 13GB and 17GB. All worked but speed was lowest common denominator.
