The outcome will remain unchanged since the model and maker match perfectly, only the positions vary.

I've purchased it, but it has a different rank than expected. I wasn't aware they'd offer varying ranks for the same model. Now I'm curious about how much this affects its performance and whether the dual channel supports different ranks.

Confirm timings are usually set at the dual rank stage. Install Aida64, choose motherboard -> SPD. Locate the dual-rank RAM module and note its specifications. Visit BIOS settings and adjust frequency, timing parameters, and DRAM voltage manually.

I hope your BIOS supports it since I use a laptop.

You can simply test it out. If it doesn’t work, avoid using the dual rank stick and bootup. Restart and switch to single rank. You might be able to reuse timing settings from the dual version.

I'll attempt it—I'm sure everything will be okay. I just don't want to handle returns.

Just install it and let the system handle things. I can't guarantee 100% accuracy, but it should work fine. For performance, dual-rank modules tend to be more efficient, so the single-rank version might lag slightly unless they match in speed and timing. Also, adding more RAM and using a dual-channel setup will make a noticeable difference. By the way, my old gaming laptop came with one 2400GB single-rank stick, and I upgraded it to a 2133GB dual-rank one. It performed much better afterward.

It should work properly, though the memory usage will match the speed of the slowest card.
