You can set up Windows 10 Preview on a USB drive and try it out, but it won’t last long enough to feel like a real system. It’s not recommended to keep it as your primary operating system for more than a short period.

Sure, just keep in mind that certain programs might not work with WinX.

I've been using Windows X and it's been frustrating lately. I enjoyed the Start menu from version 10 but they messed with it again. Plus, when power goes out, my system gets corrupted and many things stop working—like saved preferences in Chrome and a lot of startup errors.
