You don't have to upgrade right now, but you'll likely want to soon since the latest Windows version only offers support for 18 months, or up to a year. However, the 21h1 patch is quite minor and should integrate smoothly.

It's better to let the changes happen on their own.

It varies. I recently started a business client who relies on some unusual software. That program requires Windows to stay as current as possible—no one really knows why. So I kept the Windows Update settings at their defaults, except for scheduling updates during times that won’t disrupt the client. For family members and myself, I usually turn off Windows Update completely. They mainly browse and don’t need frequent updates. This helps avoid the situation where a grandparent calls every few weeks saying “everything’s different, the dog is on fire, help!” I just think Windows shouldn’t be updated so aggressively unless it’s necessary for business purposes. Sure, “sEcuRiTy uPDaTeS” might sound important, but unless you’re dealing with a targeted enterprise, it probably isn’t. As long as you have solid A/V, a good adblocker, and a reliable VPN, it works fine. I haven’t run into problems before (nor has anyone else I’ve set up the same way). So your setup might just be perfect.

some believe individuals rush to claim updates without understanding their purpose or benefits. people often hesitate to seek assistance until they install updates, which can delay necessary fixes. it’s better to discuss what each update does and why it matters rather than just applying patches. The notification alert feels bothersome, and I can only delay the update for a week.

I'll install the update now. It's just a small change, mainly a new feature.
