If there were any applications requiring a 64-bit version that could use more than 4GB of RAM, you would notice improvements, especially if the system already had more than 4GB available. It’s worth considering an upgrade when additional RAM is offered.

Absolutely, that should improve things. Think about Windows 8.1—it's a better option than Windows 7.
