You need a solid understanding of the topic before trying anything. Cable modems function as external tools since their purpose involves connecting networks.

Typically ISPs maintain a limited catalog of supported modems. It seems unlikely a device like this exists—they wouldn’t prioritize it (such functionality is rare). The PC would need to manage DHCP, firewalls, etc., which can be cumbersome. Stick with a standard modem and router for better performance.

Routers and modems generally consume less energy than a computer. If your PC fails, you won’t have internet access to obtain a solution. Certain routers let you run open-source firewall tools with adaptable options.

No cards exist that function like a Docsis modem. There are, but they’re Docsis 2.0 and most cable companies won’t permit them on their networks. For most ISPs, you need at least Docsis 3.0 to get started. With a router, you can craft one from an old computer.
