Yes, there are various Ethernet cables available, and manufacturers often grade them based on performance, durability, and compatibility. Common types include Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6a, each offering different speeds and distance capabilities. Choosing the right one depends on your specific needs like bandwidth and environment.

They’re quite simple, and unless you need speeds over 10 gigabits, they probably won’t be a big deal... grab whatever you can find.

The options include various types of cables such as SM and MM fiber, with multiple quality levels. Which connection are you making? What bandwidth do you need?

Yes, avoid using anything under Cat 5e. It must be copper; cheaper options without copper are unreliable. I’m sticking to Cat 6 now, which is slightly pricier but provides better performance and doesn’t cause issues.

Copper Ethernet cables are designed for distances up to 100 meters, but performance drops after that unless a node like a switch or repeater is added to extend the range. Fiber optic connections can cover anywhere from 300 meters to over 40 kilometers, depending on the specific fiber and optic used.

I considered recommending the Denon $500 cable. A $10,000 price tag seems unreasonable. https://www.cnet.com/news/denons-500-ethernet-cable/

$500 is reasonable. People often buy $1000 speaker wire. It’s essential to have a place to sell your stuff. That experience affected my confidence, though I’ve appreciated Denon’s AVRs for years.
